Basement pump servicing, any pump, any system
Sump pump servicing, repairs and replacements for waterproofed basements across Kent, London and the South East. Whoever installed your system, we will keep it pumping, and tell you honestly when a pump is near the end of its life.
“The pumps have been tested and have brought great peace of mind.”Emma Lansdell · Pumps and servicing
single pump service, with a written report
years between services, twice a year where the pump works hard
emergency visits across Kent and London, usually within a day
any membrane system, whoever installed it
A proper clean and a full test, not a quick look in the sump
Most pump failures start with silt, scale and debris in the sump, a float that sticks or a non-return valve that has stopped closing. We deal with all three on every visit, and we tell you how often your pump really needs it: every year for most, every two years where little water comes in, twice a year where a washing machine drains into it.
- Sump emptied and cleanedSilt, scale and debris vacuumed out so the pump is not working against sludge
- Pump stripped and checkedImpeller, seals and casing inspected, cleaned and test-run under load
- Floats and switchesFloat switches freed and set at the right levels so the pump starts and stops when it should
- Non-return valves and pipeworkDischarge line, valves and joints checked for leaks, blockages and backflow
- Alarm and battery backupHigh-water alarm tested, backup pump run and battery condition checked and recorded
- Channels flushedPerimeter drainage channels flushed through the access ports so water can still reach the sump
- Electrics and controlsSupply, control panel, fuses and cable condition checked
- Written report with photosWhat we found, what we did, what to watch, and a date for the next service, for your file and your warranty

Six things that mean "book a visit before it rains"
A sump pump rarely fails without warning. These are the warnings.
Running non-stop
A stuck float, a failed non-return valve or a pump that can no longer lift the water. It will burn out.
Not running at all
Water sitting in the sump and no sound when it should start. Check the supply, then call us.
Noise or vibration
Humming, grinding or rattling means debris in the impeller or worn bearings.
Smell or damp patch
A musty smell, a tide mark or a wet patch near the sump means water is not getting away.
Alarm sounding
High-water alarms do not lie. Something upstream has stopped working.
Over seven years old
Domestic pumps last seven to ten years. Older than that, plan the replacement rather than wait for it.
A power cut in a storm is exactly when the pump is needed most
A battery backup pump takes over automatically when the mains fails or the main pump stops, and runs for hours. A high-water alarm, wired or app-connected, tells you the moment the level rises. We fit both to existing sumps of any make, and we test them on every service.
If your basement is a bedroom, an office or holds anything you would not want to lose, we would rather you had a backup than a bigger repair bill.
Pump servicing from Faversham across Kent, London and the South East
A service visit is a half-day job, so we travel further for pumps than for building work. Faversham, Canterbury, Whitstable, Sittingbourne, Maidstone, Ashford, Thanet, Medway, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Dartford and Bromley, all of Greater London, and Surrey, Sussex and Essex by arrangement. If you are outside Kent, tell us the postcode and we will confirm the price before we book.
Sump pump questions, answered straight
How often should a basement sump pump be serviced?
Every year for a normal domestic basement. Where very little water comes in, we will tell you honestly that every two years is enough. Twice a year is the safe choice where a lot of groundwater arrives, or the basement is a utility room with a washing machine or sink draining into the pump, because the pump is then working every day. Most waterproofing warranties, including our own 30-year warranty, require regular servicing to stay valid, and the service report is your proof.
How much does a sump pump service cost?
With us, £150 + VAT for a single pump, £250 + VAT for two, and £350 + VAT for two pumps plus a battery backup, always with a written report. London pump companies typically charge £175 to £300 a visit, or £28 to £78 a month on a contract. Our prices are above.
Can you service a pump another company installed?
Yes. We service and repair pumps of any make on any cavity drain membrane system, whoever installed it. If your original installer has stopped trading or is too far away, we can take over the annual servicing and keep your records going.
What happens if the pump fails?
Water collecting behind the membrane has nowhere to go, so it rises in the sump and comes out over the floor, often within hours in wet weather. A high-water alarm gives you warning and a battery backup pump keeps pumping through a power cut. We fit both.
Do you do emergency call-outs?
Yes, across Kent and London. Call 07868 670097 or 07877 750569. We fit emergencies in as fast as we can, usually within 24 hours. If your sump is overflowing right now, switch the pump off at the socket if it is submerged and call us.
How long does a pump last?
A good domestic sump pump lasts seven to ten years when it is serviced yearly, and far less when it is not. We tell you on the report when a pump is getting towards the end of its life so you can plan the replacement instead of discovering it after a storm.
Which areas do you cover for pump servicing?
All of Kent, London and outer London, and Surrey, Sussex and Essex by arrangement. For a full basement waterproofing or conversion we work across Kent. See our waterproofing and conversion services.
Tell us about your pump
We'll call you back to book a visit, usually within two working days. A photo of the sump and the pump label helps us bring the right parts.
